DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES MANAGEMENT

To ensure that house rules are followed and obeyed.
To ensure punctual attendance and adherence to duty schedules by all shift personnel.
To organize and to ensure proper functioning of the energy management.
To support and initiate programs for the continuous improvement of the procedures for reduction of energy and utility costs.
To analyze and monitor energy costs and expenditures for the department.
To suggest ways of increasing standards of excellence.

STANDARDIZATION
To ensure that all engineering employees follow the engineering Standard Operating Procedures as issued.
To ensure that personal grooming and hygiene standards are met.
To be responsible for issuing of warnings to his/her subordinates for infringements of hotel rules and regulations, examples are, but not limited to: sleeping while on duty, late arriving for a shift, early leaving, not following up on guest complaints, not adhering to grooming standards etc.
To review proposed capital expenditure authorization requests (CEA) forms for engineering.
To monitor and ensure that purchasing practices compliance with the standards.
To assure that utility invoices are forwarded promptly each month to the accounting department.
COMMUNICATION, TRAINING & MOTIVATION
To perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
To participate in the preparation of the annual engineering budget.
To assist the Chief Engineer with determining the necessity and viability of outside contracting, to investigate contractors and submit recommendations for final approval.
To coordinate with outside contractors and agencies in connection with major rehabilitation projects or additions.
To attend departmental meetings in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
To work closely with other departments.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Qualification required: Bachelor Degree in Engineering Management, other equivalent education.
At least 5 yearsโ€™ experience in the HR field with a minimum of 2 years involved in managing staffing and training.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
To be aware of:
– tasks of Engineering Department System of Operations (understanding sources, locations, layout);
– engineering priorities;
– health, safety & hygiene policy;
– Standard Operating Procedures related to Engineering.
